Okay, so it's officially less than a month away from when I leave for my trip. A few exciting things have happened:
1. I have gotten over $800 in donations! Praise the Lord!
2. They actually bought my plane ticket! Guess what?
-First I'm going to Houston
-Then a layover in Chicago
-Then a trip to London!!! (okay so I'll just be in the airport, but still!)
-Then to Kenya!
-Finally Dar es Salaam, Tanzania!
There will be exactly three stamps in my fancy new passport.
The trip is slowly becoming reality, which is awesome, but I'm getting a little anxious. Okay, back to the countdown of new things.
3. I got my shots! Well...at least the first round of them. I got the yellow fever, which is mandatory to enter Tanzania, but I also got Hep A and B which were strongly recommended. The Hep A&B shots come in three rounds, which are $150 each! Holy crap indeed, I will be spending at least $500 on shots. But that's ok. They surprisingly have travel shots at the Tom Thumb here, and it's the cheapest option I've found! I will be getting my next round of Hep shots on Monday, so wish me luck.
4. Ok, so I won't be able to shower regularly on my trip, right? Right. Well I decided that if my hair was already going to look gross, I might as well let it be messy and low maintenance. So I decided to get a body wave (aka perm.) Gross. I don't even like the word perm. It's so 80's or old lady or something. Anyways, I actually really do like it, but right now it's totally in the super creepy jheri curl phase. Ok, so it's not that bad, and the stylist said that once I wash it, my hair will naturally straighten some. Even though I'm not super attractive, the perm is actually serving its' purpose, and being totally low maintenance and awesome. Done and done.
So...I think that's all that's going on with my trip as of yet...logistically...maybe I'll have a more in-depth post next time.
p.s. Does anyone know where to get some ankle long skirts?

He is faithful.
Ok here goes my first blog ever!
I didn't work at camp this summer, but the Lord lead me back there! They needed a fill-in secretary for week 7, and a health assistant for week 8. During the middle of week 7, the people from Village Schools called me, saying that I don't have enough funds, and that they may not be willing/able to buy my plane ticket for me. It was pretty much the most discouraging conversation I've had in a while. I'm so glad that I was here at camp when I recieved it. Jan (aka my mom at camp) was right there for the tears and support. All the wonderful leadership girls were awesome too! We prayed together, and stepped into action. We made postcard together about needing more support. I need $4,000 in less than 5 weeks. We'll see how it goes!
Right now I'm figuring out what shots I need before I go, but I'm sure it will be an armful. :o)There are lots of little details that are falling into place, so I will make sure to keep you updated on what's going on.
